Concert Bands

OVERVIEW

After the marching season is finished, students will then be split into our two concert bands, the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band. Students are placed into their respective ensembles based on a number of factors including work ethic, ability level, performance during the marching season, and their audition. All students will perform an audition as part of the placement process. This audition will take place during the student's regular lesson time. After auditions are finished, the rosters for each concert band will be released. We transition into these concert bands immediately after the marching review show. In addition to performing in regular concerts during the concert band season, students also participate in the district Solo & Ensemble and Large Group festivals. Both the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble rehearse during the same class period. 

Symphonic Band 

The Symphonic Band provides students with the opportunity to develop their musician skills in a low-stress environment. Students in this ensemble perform challenging repertoire appropriate for their ability level. The Symphonic Band is primarily comprised of Freshmen and Sophomores, but the ensemble is open to all grade levels.

Wind Ensemble 

The Wind Ensemble performs the highest level of hig traditional and contemporary high school wind band music. The purpose of this ensemble is to provide students with the opportunity to play a wide range of challenging literature. The Central High School Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Wisconsin Concert Band Association (WCBA) Convention XX times. The Wind Ensemble is primarily comprised of Juniors and Seniors, but the ensemble is open to all grade levels.
